Samsung announces first Android device


Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the second largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world, today released the I7500, its first Android-powered mobile phone. With the release, the Samsung becomes the first company among manufacturers of cellular three top global to unveil an Android-powered phone.

"Samsung is among the first members of the Open Handset Alliance and has been actively forward to introduce the most innovative Android mobile phone," said JK Shin, Executive Vice President and head of Mobile communication Division in Samsung Electronics. "With the leadership in Samsung's accumulated technology in the mobile phone industry and our consistent strategy to support every existing operating systems, I believe that Samsung offers the best options and benefits to our consumers, "he added.

The I7500, a touch screen smartphone offers a 5 megapixel camera and 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, which provides users with access to all Google services.

Samsung said that the phone would be available in major European countries in June. no word on prices.
